Registry operator, Google, have announced the launch of their new gTLD .DEV as follows:

This gTLD is unrestricted so there are no eligibility requirements to register .DEV domains.

.DEV is intended to operate as a secure TLD, meaning that HTTPS is required for all .DEV websites. You can buy your .DEV domain name, but in order for it to work properly in browsers you must first configure HTTPS serving.
