DotAsia Landrush update

The .asia Landrush closed on 13th March 2008, with just under half a million applications having been received during the three week period.

There were a total of 45,697 domains which received more than one application during the Landrush, meaning that at least 91,000 applicants will be involved in auctions for their domain names. However, this number is likely to be significantly higher, since many names received more than two applications. Examples include hot.asia and gold.asia. The most highly sought after domain was buy.asia, which received a staggering 400 applications.

The DotAsia Registry have released a list of all of the domains which received more than one application during sunrise and Landrush (http://dotasia.org/info/DotAsia-DomainsWithMultiApps--2008-03-13.txt). If a name which you applied for during Landrush appears on this list then it will go to auction.

Registry activity has now entered a ‘quiet period’ which will last until the opening of Go Live, on March 26th. This will be first opportunity to register a .asia domain on a strictly first come first served basis. If you would like to apply for any domains upon the opening of Go Live, please ensure that we receive your requests by close of business on March 20th, to allow for the office closure over the Easter weekend.
